Where should I position the cushion?
Place it in the inward curve of your lower back, roughly between the top of your pelvis and the bottom of your ribs. It should support you without forcing your body forward.
What should the memory foam feel like?
The foam is designed to feel supportive and responsive rather than like a loose bed pillow. Give yourself time to find the correct height, and stop using it if it increases discomfort.
